Meet Our Newest Intern – Tanner Dragomir

Hello, my name is Tanner Dragomir. I’m a lifelong Alaskan, soon-to-be graduate from University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Having always been extremely interested in everything money related, majoring in economics was a clear choice for me. I was notified by my former economics professor of an internship opportunity here at APCM Wealth Management for Individuals (AWMI). The opportunity to get real life experience in a professional setting while also helping Alaskans really inspired me to apply.

Like many Alaskans I love to hike, camp, play hockey, and even ice fish. My family has always been big on camping, having gone camping throughout Alaska and parts of Canada when I was little. I go as much as possible during the summer; I bought a canopy for my truck with the sole purpose of camping. My favorite place in Alaska, especially for camping, is Haines. I grew up playing hockey competitively in Fairbanks and eventually moved to Anchorage in 6th grade with my family to play at a more competitive level. While hockey was my main sport, I also played soccer, tennis, and was on a competitive swim team. One year my hockey team went to Nationals (a tournament with teams from every state that compete to be the best) and came in 2nd place, which was great for the Alaska hockey community.

After playing hockey for 14 years, my goals began to change from being in the NHL to being a business professional. From a young age I always had an interest in money, I’ve been collecting money from all over the world since I can remember. My underlying interest in money naturally led me to start my college career as a business management major. After my first economics course I was hooked, it felt natural. I ultimately changed my degree to economics and never looked back. I soon realized that economics is tough, however, I liked the challenge and have exceled as a student.

During my time here as an intern for AWMI, I’m looking forward to learning the ins and outs of being a financial advisor. I hope to learn more about the financial markets, financial planning, and client relations. I’m very excited and grateful for this opportunity!
