Celebrating Thirty Successful Years in Business

Hello, Evan Rose here. I’d like to stop for a moment and commemorate a special anniversary. As I slow down to reflect on the past, it also helps me focus on what’s important for the future. 

It’s easy to get caught up in the business of life and work, to-do lists, and caring for the needs of others. Celebrating a work anniversary, amidst other holidays and special occasions, can sometimes seem like a hassle.

In 2023, we will start our 31st year as a Registered Investment Advisor. As a fiduciary and a trusted partner to our clients our firm has stood the test of three decades. Thirty years ago, my dad, Dave Rose, saw a great need in the state for professional, local expertise in investment advice at the institutional level. He started the firm with the mission to help local governments manage their fixed-income investments and ultimately to maximize the benefit to local communities. 

I assumed the CEO role in 2006, after my father passed. We continued to grow to serve more organizations that manage important funds across Alaska for the benefit of their communities and shareholders. In my tenure I’ve been on some great adventures. Many of those, of course, begin with bad weather. I have been happily “stuck” in communities from Unalaska, to Utqiagvik, to Craig; the best part of these trips is getting to know the people.

Speaking of people, it was important to recruit talented employees to support our expanding services from a fixed-income only shop, to multi-asset strategies, to private wealth.

In 2014, Laura Bruce, CFP®, ChFC® and Cathie Straub, CFP® launched the subsidiary company, APCM Wealth Management for Individuals. Much like the parent company did, this team of advisors is filling a great need in Alaska, for individuals and families to receive local, expert advice to successfully retire and build legacies for their families.

Please join me in a toast. Thank you to those who contribute to making my dad’s dream live on for decades to come. Thanks to our clients, our employees and their families who share in this vision. Looking forward, we strive to do as we’ve always done: grow with the industry and the financial needs of our neighbors, because as fellow Alaskans we are uniquely positioned to do so.
