Meet our new team member – Allison Capps

Born and raised in Anchorage, growing up with 4 generations of family close by, it is easy to say I love living here and being an Alaskan. Working in the Wallstreet world with our mountain view truly is the best of both worlds. At a young age, I started to learn about finance and the inner workings of business. I remember excitedly telling my friends about how I owned a part of Disney after getting my first stock. Although I love Alaska, I also have always had a passion for world cultures and globalization. In 2010, sponsored by Rotary International, I studied abroad in Ecuador which made deciding my University fields of study a no brainer. I earned my degrees in International Business Finance and Spanish at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2016.

During my studies, I was chosen to be a Lee Business School International Ambassador, studying at the London School of Economics. For my Spanish degree, I spent two semesters at the University of Alicante in Spain. Unsure of which area of finance I wanted to pursue, I took positions and internships in various industries: Operations Analyst for Station Casinos, Reservations Agent for Alaska Heritage Tours, Financial Analyst for Allegiant Airlines, and GCI, Advisor Assistant at Waddell & Reed. All of these experiences confirmed the same fact – I love client service and working with people through the intricacies of finance.

After my last semester abroad, I knew I wanted to be closer to my family. In early 2017, I joined McKinley Capital Management in their Institutional Client Services department where I grew to become a Sales Associate.

In my two short months at APCM, I find myself consistently impressed with the knowledge, grit, and innovation of the team. Even given the current global situation, the teamwork seems unmatched as my colleagues are always open to explaining new concepts and brainstorming new ideas with me. I am delighted to be a part of such a talented, friendly group, all with a passion for finance and serving our institutional clients.

Outside of the office, I enjoy giving back to the community and exploring what Alaska has to offer. I am a member of Anchorage East Rotary and enjoy volunteering at my elementary school, Pacific Northern Academy. I also have a house of rotating foster pets that are a joy, especially when working from home. In the summers, my weekends are usually spent on the water halibut fishing in Anchor Point. My record to date is 350lbs! In the winter, I enjoy hitting the slopes either on skis or snowmachine. In a pre-COVID world, I also found myself traveling quite regularly outside of Alaska. However, at the end of the day, I am always happy when it is time to come home.
