Learn and Grow as Industry Experts is a firm value, so is Work and Life Harmony. As financial advisors we believe it’s not only important to have the right industry credentials; we value our team’s individual passions outside of the office. We know our clients don’t eat and breathe finance like we do – tapping into our individual experiences allows us to build relationships with clients and excel at providing tailored advice. You may see us out and about in the community at play or volunteering, fundraising, or serving on boards. We’re involved with too many great organizations to list them all here, however, I would like to highlight a couple of advisors.

Several of our advisors come from a sports background. Whether they played or coached they reflect on the parallels between sport and work. Connor Michael has been involved with freeride skiing most of his life and is the head coach of the Alyeska Freeride team. He says one of the most rewarding aspects of coaching is the confidence boost he sees in the skiers, as they conquer fears and try something new. If you’re on the slopes this winter and you hear someone, say “ladies, turn those butterflies into dragons!” that’s Connor. His ability to empathize on the slopes with his skiers and off the slopes with clients in navigating their financial decisions makes him a great financial coach.

Marietta Hall, AKA “Ed” found her way to rowing by happenstance. A brief encounter with Olympic rower Kristin Thorsness, who won a gold medal in 1984, led to a lifelong love of the sport. After competitive collegiate rowing, she founded the Anchorage Rowing Association and is still active with its operations. Ed describes being on the water with a team of 8 to be much like leading a team of advisors – each rower comes with their own skills and strengths, but they must all be rowing together in sync for a smooth ride to the finish line. Her ability to meet clients where they are and guide them through financial decisions makes her a great Senior Financial Advisor.

After two years off from coaching youth hockey I’m excited to coach again this year with the All Stars Learn to Skate program. The experience of coaching versus playing gave me a new perspective on the drive and motivation of individuals that now helps me connect with clients. Not just with sports, the diversity of our experiences creates a well-rounded team that values other perspectives allowing us to identify and create innovative solutions for each client’s unique circumstances. I recently had the opportunity to join the Commissioning Committee of the USS Ted Stevens (USSTS), a Navy Destroyer built in honor of the late Senator Ted Stevens. The christening will be held in August 2023 and the commissioning is scheduled for a 2024 celebration. The USSTS will be delivered for service to the United States Navy in 2024. Keep an eye out for updates on our Facebook page and we hope to see you there.
