A Year of Growth and Mentorship

When I joined Alaska Wealth Advisor nearly a year ago, I was a newcomer to the financial industry. Having been equipped with the tools for success through my education and life experiences as a strong foundation, I realized there was still much to learn. This first year has been a journey filled with challenges and growth. Navigating the complexities of the market, building client relationships, and applying financial planning skills has been both exciting and educational. As I look forward to my professional development, I feel fortunate to be part of the Alaska Wealth Advisors team, which places a high value on mentorship as an integral part of our core values.

The mentorship program is an initiative aimed at helping new advisors acclimate to the organization, refine their skills, and accelerate their professional development. Our program matches experienced Seniors with Associate Financial Advisors, like myself. The mentors will listen, observe, and provide guidance and support to their mentees. With the goal to assist as we develop skills, enhance our craft, and navigate careers.

I recently got the opportunity to pick the brain of Connor Michael, CFP®. Engaging with someone who has traversed the same career path as I find myself on today has been invaluable. Connor’s journey from the associate position, mirroring where I currently stand, provided me with firsthand advice on what to expect, milestone moments, and tips along the way which has been huge for my ongoing growth and long-term development.

Moreover, I believe the program positions all employees of our firm for continued growth in a rapidly evolving industry, solidifying our role as industry experts, and ensuring the continued exemplary service we provide to our clients. By connecting associate advisors with more experienced counterparts, the program encourages open communication across different levels and across advisory teams in the organization. Not only does it foster improvement of the overall skill set of each team it also contributes to a positive and inclusive company culture our clients appreciate.
